Darfur is no longer just a civics lesson for the eighth and ninth grade students at Pinelands Regional Junior High School in Tuckerton. After meeting Dr. Jerry Ehrlich, a member of Doctors Without Borders, the students were moved by the atrocities at the refugee camps enough to raise awareness and money by staging a walk-a-thon. After watching a film “Never Again: From the Holocaust to the Sudan,” a holocaust survivor discusses with the students the similarities between the Holocaust and Sudan.
