HOME – An environmental lesson coupled with mentoring experience is part of the HOME project in Somerset. Sixth graders from Hillside Intermediate School mentor third and fourth graders from Adamsville Elementary School. As part of a continuing program called Habitats & Open Meadows for the Environment (HOME), the students learn about the school’s ecosystem. The students use the school’s outdoor learning center to implement an on-going interdisciplinary environmental science curriculum that addresses the need to find sustainable environmental solutions. The sixth graders from the Roots & Shoots Leadership Group prepare lessons for the younger students.
