Island Schoolyard Garden – Ethel Jacobsen Elementary School in Surf City was awarded “Best in New Jersey Farm to School” Award from New Jersey Department of Agriculture. The students and their parents spend parts of their summer tending to the school garden, and during the school year they learn lessons from science to math to vocabulary. Teachers in pre-k through second grade demonstrate different lessons at each level.
