Doctor of Success — New Jersey public schools produce the best and the brightest. Each year NJEA selects outstanding graduates and honors them for their accomplishments. This year one of the award recipients is Dr. Omaida Velazquez, a graduate of Union City’s Union Hill High School. Classroom Close-up, NJ will go on rounds with the doctor at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital. Born in Cuba, she moved to New Jersey in 1980 where she enrolled in the school’s bilingual program. Now she is a surgeon who has been involved in cancer research.
