Synopsis

Heritage Garden – Two elementary schools in Ringwood plant Ramapough native gardens to teach lessons about Native American Indian culture and agriculture. At Robert Erskine Elementary, students plant corn, beans and squash to create a Three Sisters Garden. Students at Peter Cooper Elementary learn how to grind corn with stone matates. This project creates a bound between the school and the Ramapough Indians, who are indigenous to North Jersey.
