Kafele’s Principles
Synopsis
Kafele’s Principles – NJEA member and principal of the West Market Street Center, Baruti Kafele, turned a severely underachieving school in Newark into a nationally recognized high school. For this, he was recognized with a Milken Educator Award. When Mr. Kafele accepted the job as principal of the vocational school, he saw it as an opportunity rather than obstacles. In just four years he transformed the school into one recognized among the best high schools in the country by U.S. News & World Report for two years in a row.
