Project Citizen
Synopsis
Project Citizen – A civic education program for New Jersey middle and high school students emphasizes responsible participation in local and state government. The program involves students in understanding public policy. The students select a topic, research it, evaluate alternative solutions and create a political action plan to enlist local or state authorities to change or develop a policy. Participants develop a portfolio of the work and present their work in a hearing of civic-minded community members. The program is funded by Congressional appropriations and administered through the New Jersey Center for Civic and Law-Related Education.
