Remembering Paul Winkler– “Don’t be a bystander” is the message that Dr. Paul Winkler told thousands of New Jersey students and teachers over the decades. Starting as a teacher and ultimately heading the New Jersey Holocaust Commission, Dr. Winkler spearheaded New Jersey becoming among the first states in the country to mandate holocaust education. He was also responsible for developing curriculum on the holocaust, genocide and 9/11. He passed during the summer, but his impact on New Jersey and the country will live forever.
