Responsible Thinking – Teacher Gary Melton, from the Pennsylvania Avenue School in Atlantic City, runs the responsible thinking class which replaces the ineffective way of handling discipline problems in the schools. This is in response to the “school-to-prison pipeline,” a disturbing national trend wherein children are funneled out of public schools and into the juvenile and criminal justice systems. Melton believes that students should be educated, not incarcerated.
