Megan Steel, a teacher from Frank Antonides School in West Long Branch, uses pedometers in her classroom to combat childhood obesity. A $1,700 grant helped fund a program called Smart Stepping which expands the value of the pedometer. Fourth graders incorporate their pedometers in all their subjects, especially math, writing, and social studies.
