Urban Teacher Academy – Studies suggest that while two million teachers may be needed nationally over the next 10 years, traditional teacher preparation programs have only 1 million prospective teachers in the pipeline. Shortages are acute for math, science, special education, bilingual and early childhood teachers. For that reason, the College of New Jersey offers a summer High School Urban Teacher Academy to high school juniors interested in pursuing careers in urban education.
