Kindergarten Humanities – The NJ Council for the Humanities named Ellen Cahill the 2011 Teacher of the Year. Her kindergarten students at Bradford Elementary in Montclair vote at the beginning of the year on topics that interest them. The most popular topic is light, shadows and rainbows. Chill demonstrates what’s possible in early childhood education, and she uses complex ideas that spark children’s passion for learning.
