Lemonade Stand – What started out as a distraction for special needs students at Middle Township Elementary #1 in Cape May has turned into a learning opportunity. Students in Andrea Davis’ self-contained special education class were distracted by parents lining up to pick up their children at the end of the school day. Accepting this as an unavoidable distraction, Davis and her colleagues turned it into a learning opportunity for her students. Every Friday the students sell lemonade to the parents as they line up. The stand helps build communication skills and teaches them about running a business.
