School Evolves – Schools must fit the needs of the community, and as time goes by, communities change and evolve, so schools must evolve as well. Fifteen years ago a school in East Orange called Nassau Elementary School taught French. But as the flow of immigrants changed, the school changed its name to Ecole Toussaint Louverture and changed its focus to community service. The school works with dozens of outside agencies to infuse the sense of community.
