Synopsis

Superstorm in Atlantic City – Classroom Close-up, NJ airs a special episode on the devastating impact of Hurricane Sandy on New Jersey’s public schools. Starting in Atlantic City where, for the first time in its 158-year history, Hurricane Sandy forced the cancelation of the NJEA Convention. The city was not only hit hard by the high winds and flooding, but by the economic impact of losing the city’s largest convention. Each year the Atlantic City Convention Center is host to thousands of educators, but after Sandy it became a shelter for hurricane victims. Across town, schools open their doors so students can return to some sense of normalcy.
